ADVANTEC AS is a privately owned technology and service company, located at the island Stord on Norway’s west coast, between the cities Stavanger and Bergen.
For the last 30 years, industrial companies at Stord have been in the forefront of the oil & gas industry in Norway, with major engineering and platform outfitting projects performed by the companies Aker Stord and Aker Kvaerner Elektro.
ADVANTEC was established in January 2005, whereby the Dept. of Competence & Service (C&S) of Aker Kværner Elektro was sold out, and established as an independent company. Through this process, 20 experienced engineers and technicians were transferred to the new company, together with products designs, instrumentation and equipment. Since then, staff has increased as a result of new orders, and the company now employs a total of 58 personnel.
The establishment and sell-out process of ADVANTEC is part of the strategic re-organisation of Aker Kværner, where Aker Kværner has actively participated in setting up an “Industrial Incubator” (VIS – Vekst Industri Sunnhordland) that shall encourage and assist entrepreneurs in establishing new technology companies in the region. Focus is on companies with growth potential and international market opportunities, based on high-tech solutions, and industrial experience.
